### Who is this programme for?
The programme is built for people who want web development to be their job, not just to try it out.

- **Determined beginners**: No programming experience, ready to practise regularly for a year.
- **Science or office backgrounds**: Students, recent graduates, assistants, accountants: you want to move into a technical job.
- **Technicians retraining in-house**: Already employed, you need to build or maintain web tools for your company.

- Beginners are welcome.
- Good basic computer skills are recommended (files, browser, email).
- Before any enrolment, an assessment interview checks that the programme suits you.

### The curriculum: four blocks, a live project at every stage
The curriculum follows a developer's real progression: first the page, then the interface, then the server, then the data. Every block ends with a deployed deliverable you can show to a recruiter or a client.

#### 1. Foundations: HTML5, CSS3 and modern JavaScript
Page structure, styling, mobile-friendly layout, then logic with JavaScript: variables, functions, events, page manipulation, network calls. It is the base for everything else, including for those who will later move to mobile.

- Deployed deliverable: A mobile-friendly website, online

#### 2. Front-end with React
Components, state, navigation between screens, forms and API consumption. React is used to build modern, fast interfaces; you learn it on complete interfaces, not on isolated examples.

- Deployed deliverable: A complete React interface, online

#### 3. Back-end with Laravel
Building a server, routes, user authentication, error handling. You understand what happens "behind" a website: essential to become a full stack developer or to freelance without depending on another provider.

- Deployed deliverable: A Laravel back-end with authentication

#### 4. Databases and REST APIs
Model data, store it, query it, then expose it cleanly to a web or mobile application through a RESTful API. At the end of this block, you can deliver a complete web application, from the form to the database.

- Deployed deliverable: A complete web application, from the form to the database

### How you learn: the Honowa Academy method
A project only counts once it is deployed, documented and presented. The programme is organised in four steps that come back in every block:

1. **Foundation**: The language, the tools and Git, to work cleanly from day one.
2. **Features**: You work from user stories, mock-ups and tickets, as in a development team.
3. **Code review**: A trainer reviews your code and explains what must be fixed and why.
4. **Going live**: Hosting, documentation (README) and project presentation.

As in every Honowa Academy programme, AI tools are part of the course: you learn to use them to go faster, while remaining able to understand and fix the code they produce.

### The tools you will use
- VS Code to write code
- Git and GitHub to version and share your projects
- HTML, CSS, JavaScript for interfaces
- React for front-end applications
- Laravel for the back-end
- REST APIs to connect interfaces, servers and databases

A laptop is enough: 8 GB of RAM is recommended.

### On site in Makèpè or online
- **On site, in Makèpè (Douala)**: At the centre, for direct contact with the trainer and the other learners. Ideal if you live in Bonamoussadi, Logpom, Kotto, Bepanda, nearby neighbourhoods.
- **Online**: From another city in Cameroon or French-speaking Africa, with the same curriculum and the same project requirements.

### Fees, payment and enrolment
The full 12-month programme costs 500,000 FCFA. The price is published on the website.

- Cash (At the centre's front desk)
- MTN Mobile Money (From your phone)
- Orange Money (From your phone)

Flexible payment options and group discounts are available: ask for details during the interview.

#### Enrol in four steps
1. **Contact the centre**: By phone, WhatsApp, email or through the contact form.
2. **Take the assessment interview**: It assesses your needs and confirms that web development is the right choice.
3. **Confirm your enrolment**: With a first payment.
4. **Start**: At the next intake, on site or online.

### After the programme: certification, portfolio and employment
Honowa Academy's long programmes lead to a Honowa Academy certification. But for a recruiter, the strongest proof remains your portfolio: live applications, with their code on GitHub and their documentation.

- Writing your CV and showcasing your portfolio
- Preparing for technical interviews
- Introductions to Honowa Academy's network of partner companies

### Which jobs after a web development programme?
- Front-end developer (React)
- Junior full stack developer (React + Laravel)
- Web integrator (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
- Freelancer (Websites and applications for SMEs, shops and associations)
- In-house developer (In a company digitising its tools)

The web programme is also a solid base to move on to mobile development with Flutter, offered as a dedicated programme. https://staging.honowa-academy.cm/en/courses/app-development#mobile-dev

### How to choose a web development programme in Douala?
1. **Is the centre approved?** A MINEFOP approval can be checked and binds the organisation.
2. **Are the price and duration published?** A clear offer avoids bad surprises along the way.
3. **Are projects put online?** A portfolio of deployed applications is worth more than a certificate alone.
4. **Is the code reviewed by a trainer?** Code review is what makes you progress fastest.
5. **Is there job-search support?** CV, interviews, introductions: the programme does not stop at the last class.

Honowa Academy answers yes to all five questions.
