Vibe coding course in Douala: build your own app with AI
The Honowa Academy vibe coding course teaches you to build and launch an application by describing what you want, in plain language, to an artificial intelligence (Claude, Cursor, Lovable), without writing code. It runs over three 2.5-hour evenings in Makèpè (Douala), in a group of 5 people maximum, for 28,000 FCFA. You leave with an application live on the internet, in your own name.

What is vibe coding?
Vibe coding means building software by talking to an AI: you describe the application, its screens and what it should do, the AI writes the code, then you test, fix and start again until you get the result you want. Your job is no longer to type code, but to direct, check and decide.
The term was coined in February 2025 by Andrej Karpathy, one of the founding members of OpenAI. Since then, tools such as Cursor, Lovable or Claude let an entrepreneur, a freelancer or a marketing manager build a first working tool on their own, where it used to take a development budget and weeks of waiting.
Vibe coding does not make programming useless. It changes the starting point: you can test your idea in a few evenings, show it to real users, then make an informed decision about investing in full development.
-
01
You describe
The application, its screens, what it should do.
-
02
The AI writes the code
Claude, Cursor or Lovable produce the application.
-
03
You test
On your computer, then on your phone.
-
04
You fix
You rephrase and start again until it works as intended.
Your role: direct, check, decide.
Who is this course for?
Entrepreneurs and SME managers
You need an internal tool (order tracking, inventory, appointment booking) or an online catalogue, but you do not want to commit a development budget before you are sure of the idea. Vibe coding lets you build a first version and have your team test it.
Freelancers and project owners
Your idea has been waiting for months because a developer is expensive. In three evenings, you turn it into an application you can show a client, a partner or an investor, instead of describing it.
Digital professionals
Community managers, project managers, designers, consultants: you add an in-demand skill to your profile and finally know what is realistic to ask a developer for, and at what price.
Prerequisites: no programming knowledge. All you need is a personal laptop.
What you can build with vibe coding
In three evenings, realistic projects are simple applications:
- A dynamic showcase website for your business
- An online product catalogue
- An order or booking form
- An internal tool for your team (tracking, dashboard, task list)
The limits, stated plainly
Full platforms, with online payments and user accounts, take several weeks. And an application that handles money or sensitive data must be taken over by a real developer: that is one of the limits the workshop teaches you to recognise.
The format: a 3-evening workshop in Douala
The workshop takes place in Makèpè (Douala) on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm, i.e. 7.5 hours of supervised practice over one week. It fits around a working day. Sessions are held in French; an English session can be opened from 3 participants.
-
01
Monday 2 November
17:30 → 20:00
Session 1: frame and get started
Creating your accounts, activating an international payment method, installing the tools. You sum up your project in one sentence and four screens, and leave with a first screen generated by the AI.
-
02
Wednesday 4 November
17:30 → 20:00
Session 2: build and fix
The AI produces, you direct. You learn to read an error message, rephrase a request and take back control when the AI gets it wrong. By the end of the session, your application runs on your computer.
-
03
Friday 6 November
17:30 → 20:00
Session 3: go live and know the limits
Deployment, web address, testing on your phone. Then the honest review: what can break, what the tools cost, when to call a developer. Each participant presents their application in three minutes.
Between two sessions, allow 20 to 30 minutes to refine your project or add a feature on your own.
What you leave with
-
A live application
Publicly accessible, on a computer as well as on a phone.
-
Your access, in your name
The application and the accounts belong to you.

-
An honest estimate
What the full project would cost.

A certificate of attendance
Issued by Honowa Academy, a MINEFOP-approved centre.

What vibe coding does not replace
The workshop is not developer training. It gives you an application that works and the perspective to judge what it is worth.
If you want to go further, understand the code the AI produces, secure it and make it your career, the logical next step is the web development course in Douala: 12 months, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React and Laravel, on site in Makèpè or remotely, for 500,000 FCFA. The workshop fee is then deducted from the full programme.
After the workshop, you also join a WhatsApp group with the other participants to share your progress and questions.
